So, What Else is New?

Over the past few months, we have informed you of upcoming changes to the Standard Automobile Insurance policy which will take effect as of June 1, 2016. As previously noted, there has been a major overhaul of the medical, rehabilitation & attendant care benefits under the Standard Accident Benefits coverage. Here are other changes also coming into effect June 1.

  • The new standard deductible for Comprehensive coverage will be 500.
  • PAC fees will be reduced from the current 3%. (maximum of 1.3% for annual policies).
  • Insurers cannot use minor at-fault accidents to increase premiums if they meet all of these criteria:

-No payment has been made by any insurer for damages to the automobile or property.

-The cost of damage to each automobile does not exceed $2000, and is paid by the at-fault driver.

-There are no personal injuries sustained as a result of the accident.

-The insured automobile (or its replacement) did not have any minor accident in the past 3 years.
